If you read this article in The Register, there were 50 suspects arrested in Romania for using spyware to monitor “cellphone communications” of a myriad of people by using off the shelf software.  On top of that an IT specialist was selling the “spyware for as much as $580 on the internet” and was available in “Light, Pro and Pro-X versions”

So, here’s my beef with smart phones.  They are openly vulnerable to the use of such things as spyware, GSM hacking (watch this video from Hak5 on GSM.  you’ll have to fast forward to the 10 minute mark) and my guess any form of malware.  I have not heard of any carrier, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, mention that they have any sort of antivirus for the operating systems of their smart phones.  After all, phones these days are mini computers and with no protection, what’s stopping someone from getting into your cell and making out like bandits?  I think I’m going to have to further investigate this.  Maybe you’ll see a part two in the near future.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter, so post in the comment section.  Don’t forget to use one of the share buttons, or subscribe to a feed.

I’ll see you next post.  Thanks for reading.
